Twin Falls (Mile Marker 2): The Honest First Stop

The first real waterfall stop on the Road to Hāna — easy access, fruit stand at the gate, and a payoff swim if you stay long enough.

Twin Falls is the first proper waterfall stop on the Road to Hāna, just past Mile Marker 2. The lower falls are a 5-minute walk from the parking area; the upper falls (and the swimming pool below them) are a longer 30-minute hike on a rocky path. A fruit stand at the gate sells fresh-cut coconuts and banana bread.

What to know

  • Cost: $10 parking, cash or card at the stand.
  • Hours: Daily, daylight only.
  • Time needed: 45 minutes for lower falls; 1.5–2 hours if you hike up.
  • Footwear: Real shoes, not flip-flops — the upper trail is muddy and rocky.
  • Best move: Hit Twin Falls first, before 9 AM. Tour vans don’t usually arrive until 9:30–10.
