Hāli’imaile General Store occupies a 1929 plantation building set among pineapple fields above the town. Chef Bev Gannon was one of the original architects of Hawai‘i Regional Cuisine, and the menu — Szechuan barbecue salmon, paniolo ribeye, sashimi napoleon — has the confidence of a kitchen that helped invent its own genre.
